Racing At The Royal St. Lawrence
Nigel Maund -- Sailing Committee Chairman
Welcome to the Racing Home page of the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club.
This is my first season as Chairman of the Sailing Committee. I look forward to working with the fleet representatives and all the sailors. Again this year we expect a great racing season under the direction of Brian Thorniley, who ran the Race Committee last year. Brian brings a great deal of experience and understanding of the requirements of his position and we are very fortunate to have someone of his qualifications.
In an effort to promote racing amongst the clubs on the lake, we will again host the annual McAuslan Cup (open)and Myrtle Cook(ladies) Races. This is a Whitesail race so that everyone can participate, not necessarily only the seasoned racers. McAuslan Brewery supplies their silver trophy as well as a generous supply of their products. The Myrtle Cook Trophy was named after a lady who was an Olympian in her time as well as a reporter who championed racing on the lake in the '60s'. .
We have racing for all levels of experience and if you are interested in joining the fun, call the office and they will direct you to the representative who handles your class of boat. They are listed below;
Lightnings -
Laser 28 - Denise Bienvenu
PHRF - Tom Thompson
White Sail - Carson Rappell
Friday Fun - Frank Collins
Hope to see you at the start.
